Edenmoor expands to enhance D2C meat quality

Edenmoor announces transformative investment in new production facility. The 25,000 sq ft site in Cullompton will significantly enhance carcass intake capacity, marking a major advancement in the UK’s high-integrity food sector. The move aligns with growing consumer preference for transparent, pasture-led protein sources.

Edenmoor, previously known as Pipers Farm, has unveiled plans for a transformative seven-figure investment in a new 25,000 sq ft production facility. This development marks a significant escalation in the UK’s high-integrity food sector, as the company aims to increase its revenue from £7.5 million to a projected £20 million.

The investment responds directly to the surge in ‘conscious consumerism,’ where shoppers are increasingly opting for transparent, pasture-led protein sources over industrialised supermarket supply chains. The centrepiece of this investment is the purpose-built site in Cullompton, which provides nearly four times the carcass intake capacity of Edenmoor’s previous operations. Key technical advancements include advanced dry-ageing infrastructure, operational consolidation, and modern cold-store technology, which reduce electricity consumption while maintaining artisanal quality.

The transition from Pipers Farm to Edenmoor — named after the wild landscapes between Dartmoor and Exmoor — represents the company’s evolution from a single farm entity into a large-scale collective of regenerative producers. This rebranding underscores a strategic focus on the ultra-processed food debate, positioning Edenmoor as a primary ethical alternative to the traditional retail race to the bottom on price.

“This is about building a resilient supply chain that meets changing expectations,” said managing director Harry Radford. “The new facility allows us to expand into value-added and marinated products without compromising our principles.”

The investment also acts as a significant economic stimulus for the South West. The site supports 50 full-time jobs, with 95% of the workforce recruited locally. Edenmoor has confirmed plans for a butchery apprenticeship scheme to preserve traditional craft skills, and the expansion allows for the onboarding of additional local farmers, ensuring a fair-price market for regenerative agriculture practitioners.

A cornerstone of Edenmoor’s model is its ‘Peak Freshness’ freezing strategy, which reduces food waste across the supply chain and stabilises flavour profiles for consumers. This strategy addresses a critical challenge for online meat retailers, reinforcing Edenmoor’s commitment to sustainable and ethical food production.
