Emerson, a leader in industrial technology and advanced automation solutions, has unveiled a redesigned mobile app for its DeltaV SaaS supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) software. This update aims to enhance the capabilities of operators and technicians, enabling them to perform more tasks from their mobile devices. The app targets industries like oil and gas, and specialty chemicals, promising more efficient and optimised operations.
The reliance on mobile applications for SCADA solutions is growing among operators and field technicians. These apps allow for on-the-go monitoring, data input, setting adjustments, and command issuance. However, the need for more robust applications with user-friendly interfaces is evident. The revamped DeltaV SaaS SCADA app provides operators and technicians with the necessary tools and clarity to operate effectively in the field, eliminating the need to carry a laptop.
The redesigned app offers a completely overhauled user interface that facilitates intuitive viewing of critical operational data. Users can create and customise reports, comparing multiple sensors and locations to gain better insights into field operations. Alarms are delivered through push notifications, ensuring rapid awareness of any issues.
New route planning features are integrated, allowing users to manage routes directly from the app. This functionality simplifies customising runs according to specific schedules and daily plans. Operators and technicians can view and manage stops on their route, seamlessly integrating location data with the mobile device’s mapping app for navigation.
Dawn Marruchella, vice president of Emerson’s Guardian software and solutions business, stated, “Today, many operators and technicians are using mobile devices as their primary interface to their SCADA systems. We’ve redesigned the DeltaV SaaS SCADA mobile app from the ground up with this in mind — delivering a more seamless, intuitive way for users to access all the key information they need, in the format they desire, from anywhere across their plant, facility or enterprise.”
Additionally, the app introduces new widgets that simplify operations, enabling users to quickly view total alarms for selected locations and compare production volumes.
The updated DeltaV SaaS SCADA app reflects the industry’s shift towards mobile-centric solutions, enhancing operational efficiency and adaptability. This development underscores the broader trend in industrial automation, where mobility and customisation are becoming essential components of modern SCADA systems.
