Lhyfe to provide RFNBO-certified hydrogen in Germany

Lhyfe to supply hydrogen to German service stations. The company has agreed to deliver 90 tons of RFNBO-certified hydrogen over 15 months. This initiative aims to support Germany’s transition to green hydrogen, with several dozen buses set to benefit from this sustainable fuel source.

Lhyfe, a leader in green and renewable hydrogen production, has announced a significant offtake agreement with a German service-station operator. Under the terms of this contract, Lhyfe will supply approximately 90 tons of RFNBO-certified hydrogen over a 15-month period. This supply will fuel several dozen buses, marking a notable step in Germany’s green hydrogen advancement.

Last week, Lhyfe inaugurated its first commercial production site in Schwäbisch Gmünd, the largest of its kind in Germany. Matthieu Guesné, founder and CEO of Lhyfe, stated, “This announcement once again highlights the position Lhyfe has held for several years as a driving force in the development of a local and sustainable industry. At Lhyfe, we are convinced of the major role that green hydrogen will have to play in decarbonising heavy and intensive mobility, which is responsible for a significant share of CO2 emissions.”

Germany’s commitment to green hydrogen is evident, particularly in the realm of hydrogen mobility. The adoption of hydrogen as a clean energy source aligns with the broader European agenda to reduce carbon emissions. With transportation being a significant contributor to CO2 emissions, the shift towards hydrogen-powered vehicles is a critical component of sustainable industrial practices.

The International Energy Agency forecasts that by 2030, hydrogen could meet up to 24% of global energy needs in transport and heavy industry. This agreement between Lhyfe and the German operator represents a tangible step towards achieving those targets.
