BAMD Composites enhance Toyota’s new Supra down under

BAMD Composites supplies eco-panels for Toyota’s new supercar. The Oxfordshire-based manufacturer has been chosen by Toyota Gazoo Racing Australia to provide eco-composite body panels for the new Toyota GR Supra Supercar, debuting in the 2026 Australian Supercars Championship. This partnership highlights BAMD’s leadership in sustainable materials and high-performance manufacturing.

BAMD Composites, renowned for its advanced sustainable composite manufacturing, has been appointed by Toyota Gazoo Racing Australia to supply eco-composite body panels for the all-new Toyota GR Supra Supercar. Set to debut in the 2026 Australian Supercars Championship, this project exemplifies BAMD’s comprehensive capabilities — from design optimisation and tooling to final manufacture and delivery — all completed within a mere 12 weeks.

The GR Supra marks Toyota Gazoo Racing’s return to premier Australian motorsport, with six vehicles slated to compete under the new GN3 specification. These cars have undergone rigorous design and development to meet the Supercars Championship’s stringent parity and performance requirements, where precision, repeatability, and sustainability are paramount.

By employing next-generation eco-composite materials, BAMD achieved a substantial reduction in CO₂ emissions compared to traditional epoxy and pre-preg carbon methods. Although such sustainable materials are rare in motorsport, Toyota Gazoo Racing recognised the long-term benefits of this innovation, selecting BAMD for its ability to deliver sustainable performance without compromise.

“This project perfectly captures what BAMD is about — sustainable materials, technical precision, and genuine partnership,” stated Sam Hudson, Managing Director at BAMD Composites. “We were chosen not only for our engineering expertise but because we could deliver a complete, right-first-time solution using eco-composites that reduce environmental impact. For us, that’s the future of motorsport manufacturing, and it’s great to see Toyota adopting it at the highest level of performance.”

As a turnkey manufacturing partner, BAMD managed every phase — from reviewing and refining CAD designs for manufacturability to creating tooling and producing composite components that meet the exacting tolerances of high-performance motorsport. Parts are now in ongoing production and shipped from the UK to Australia, aligning with Toyota’s 2025–26 testing programme.

“Being able to take a design, optimise it, tool it, and ship it halfway around the world — all within weeks — shows the strength of British engineering on the global stage,” Hudson added. “Projects like this prove how UK innovation continues to drive international success and create skilled local jobs.”

Toyota Gazoo Racing’s commitment to a five-year Supercars programme signals a bold new chapter for the GR performance brand and reinforces BAMD’s reputation as a trusted partner in industries where precision, sustainability, and speed are crucial.
