Irish food firm invests in significant digital upgrade

Kepak completes major digital overhaul with Microsoft Dynamics 365. The family-owned Irish meat manufacturer has upgraded its operational systems across the UK and Ireland, replacing its outdated Dynamics AX 2012 platform. This strategic move enhances supply chain, warehouse, and finance processes, ensuring scalability and future growth.

Kepak, a family-owned Irish meat manufacturer, has completed a significant implementation of Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance and Operations (F&O) across its UK and Ireland operations. This marks a crucial advancement in its efforts to futureproof its business operations.

The digital transformation project was executed by Nexer Enterprise Applications, a specialist in Microsoft ERP, CRM, and Power Platform. Kepak sources meat from thousands of farmers across Ireland and the UK, supplying major retailers and foodservice chains such as Tesco, Asda, Burger King, and McDonald’s.

The project involved replacing Kepak’s obsolete Dynamics AX 2012 platform, which no longer met the demands of its supply chain, warehouse, and finance processes. This upgrade ensures that Kepak’s systems are equipped to handle future growth, aligning with the company’s long-term vision. With the UK rollout completed and Irish sites already operational, the initiative is now in its post-live hyper-care phase.

Nexer streamlined Kepak’s operations by introducing a central billing team, replacing the previous site-by-site invoicing system. This change has simplified customer billing across all major accounts. Additionally, supply chain, warehouse, and finance workflows were standardised onto a single Dynamics 365 platform, eliminating fragmented systems across eight Irish and several UK facilities. The new technical architecture, designed by Nexer’s experts, supports scalability for future growth and enhancements.

Jeremy O’Callahan, Kepak Group’s Chief Information Officer, stated, “This transformation has been a true partnership. Replacing our end-of-life AX system with Dynamics 365 through Implement365 gives us the consistency and agility we need to support our farmers and customers alike. Nexer’s strategic support was critical to ensuring the implementation process went as smoothly as possible as business continued around it.”

Martin Burden, Commercial Director at Nexer Enterprise Applications, added, “With Kepak, we’ve helped to futureproof their ever-evolving supply-chain, warehouse, and finance operations through Microsoft Dynamics 365 consolidation. As we move into hyper-care, our focus remains on fine-tuning and ensuring Kepak realises ongoing value from its investment across both Irish and UK markets.”
