CCL Label has introduced an innovative sustainable product portfolio specifically designed for the dairy market, aligning with the EU’s upcoming Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR). This tailored collection aids dairy brands in transitioning to recyclable packaging, reducing environmental impacts and carbon footprints, while ensuring compliance with Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) obligations amid evolving regulations.
The newly launched solutions integrate seamlessly with existing recycling streams. Marika Knorr, head of sustainability at CCL, highlighted the context: “As regulations tighten and consumer demand for sustainable packaging increases, we are proud to support the dairy industry with solutions that not only meet functionality and branding needs but are also aligned with the future of circular packaging. This new portfolio is a step forward in helping our customers reduce their environmental impact and meet the recyclability criteria outlined in the PPWR proposal.”
Reinhard Streit, group vice president of food and beverage global, underscored the collaborative research and development effort behind the launch. “Launching a portfolio designed for the specific needs of the dairy industry, such as light-blocking and other barrier properties, is a result of our ongoing research and development work and different business units within CCL collaborating,” he stated. Streit also pointed out that the high-protein trend is driving innovation in dairy products, which CCL aims to support with appropriate packaging solutions.
As the dairy industry faces increasing pressure to adopt sustainable practices, CCL’s portfolio offers a forward-looking approach, poised to meet the recyclability standards set by the PPWR and support the industry’s evolving packaging requirements.
