Customising options expand for OKW enclosures and knobs

OKW expands in-house customisation services for enclosures. The company now offers laser marking, CNC machining, lacquering, printing, decor foils, EMC shielding, special materials, and accessory installation. These services cater to diverse industries, enhancing product adaptability and quality. OKW’s advancements provide tailored solutions for medical, environmental, and control systems.

OKW, a leading manufacturer of enclosures and tuning knobs, has broadened its in-house customisation services. The expanded offerings now include laser marking, CNC machining, lacquering, printing, decor foils, EMC shielding, special materials, and comprehensive installation and assembly of accessories. These enhancements are designed to serve a wide range of applications, from medical and laboratory electronics to HVAC, climate control, and environmental systems.

Laser marking is particularly suited for personalised labelling and small machine-readable codes, such as QR and DataMatrix. The company’s printing options have been upgraded to incorporate fluorescent and photoluminescent inks, improving visibility in hazardous or poorly lit areas. Additionally, photo-quality digital printing enables the addition of detailed legends, logos, and graphics.

The range of lacquering services has also increased, offering various finishes that include soft-touch and ESD conductive lacquers, metallic effects, and a spectrum of lustres from matt to gloss. Colour matching is available in accordance with RAL or Pantone standards, thanks to OKW’s in-house mixing plant, which ensures quality consistency and swift delivery.

OKW’s machining services encompass milling, tapping, engraving, drilling, countersinking, cutting, and stamping, ranging from prototypes to full-scale production. The company can adjust the internal thickness of enclosure walls to facilitate LED display integration without compromising ingress protection.

For EMC shielding, OKW utilises a vapour-plating technique that coats enclosures with a 99.98% pure aluminium layer, approximately 2.5 µm thick. Special materials offered include V-0 rated plastics for enhanced flammability resistance, as well as custom colours.

Accessory installation services cover the assembly and fitting of components such as cable glands, belt clips, tilt foot bars, wall mounts, hinges, and handles. Additional services include the application of keyboard and decor foils, type plates, display windows, and mounting pillars.
