Following the debut of Malaysia’s first hybrid fast crew boat (FCB), Strategic Marine has delivered a second hybrid FCB to Centus Marine.

Hybrid propulsion vessels

The vessel, named Centus Alesha, features Strategic Marine’s hybrid propulsion system, which reduces fuel consumption and emissions, and has been designed in collaboration with Centus Marine, to support more sustainable offshore operations while maintaining exceptional performance, reliability and safety.

This delivery builds on the success of the first hybrid FCB delivered in 2024 and demonstrates Centus Marine’s continued commitment to growing a greener fleet and improving efficiency in the offshore energy sector.

Extending the partnership

Chan Eng Yew, CEO of Strategic Marine, commented, “The delivery of Centus Alesha reflects our strong and ongoing relationship with Centus Marine. We are proud to contribute another vessel that aligns with our shared mission of leading sustainable innovation in offshore transport.”

Derick Soo, CEO of Centus Marine, added, “Centus Alesha represents another big step forward in our decarbonization efforts. We are excited to expand our hybrid fleet and raise the bar for operational and environmental excellence in the region.”

In related news, the King County Sheriff’s Office Marine Division in Washington state recently selected aluminum vessel builder Moose Boats to build a custom diesel-electric hybrid patrol boat. Click here to read the full story
