Nanocrystalline inductors reduce I/O and DC line noise

TTI IP&E – Europe now has availability of the FW series of nanocrystalline inductors from new franchisee Chemi-Con.

The material’s high magnetic permeability reduces the core volume and the number of copper wire turns needed to achieve a high performance, small size, and lightweight design. The common mode choke coils can be used as input/output and DC line noise filters in various power source applications.

Since the curie temperature (magnetic transition temperature) is at 570°C, the coil’s characteristics are maintained even in high-temperature environments such as automotive applications. In addition, advantages such as low resistance (1.2 to 26mΩmax) and low heat generation allow the coil to be used in power sources for medical equipment, communication base stations, and industrial equipment.

Compared with the conventional FL-V series coils, the magnetic permeability of the FW series at 10kHz has improved by approximately 150% (3.2 to 37.1mH), while maintaining a high performance (1.0 to 11.5mH) at 100kHz. Additionally, the impedance at 150kHz to 1MHz has improved.

The FW series nanocrystalline coils and cores can provide continuous operation 24/7. Other features include -40°C to +130°C applicable temperature range, AEC-Q200[1] compliance, and UL 94V-0 Type B (+130°C) flammability and insulation rating.
