2021 AEMT Awards winners announced

The Winners of the Association of Electrical & Mechanical Trades’ 2021 AEMT Awards were announced during a gala presentation ceremony in Coventry on Thursday 18th November. Attended by some two hundred people from across the electrical and mechanical trades arena, the evening once again proved to be a wonderful evening of reward and celebration. Having been postponed from its original 2020 dateline due to the pandemic, there was a great deal of anticipation ahead of the event, with all attendees eager to reunite and re-engage with their colleagues and peers.

This year’s awards programme again attracted some truly excellent entries across the seven categories, and the winners were announced as follows.

Product of the Year went to Menzel Motors for its IP67 motors, which defied flood conditions.

The Project of the Year category was won by Fletcher Moorland for its ibot PCB card refurbishment project, which has allowed 600 iBOT cards to be repaired rather than replaced over 12 months, saving its customer both money and having a positive impact on its carbon footprint by reducing waste.

Service Centre of the Year was awarded to ADC Electrical, while the Supplier of the Year award went to Preformed Windings, a specialist manufacturer of high voltage motor coils.

This year the Contribution to Skills & Training award went to EMiR Software to recognise how the company responded to the challenges presented by the COVID-19 pandemic by developing the eMiR-Learning Platform, an online learning solution designed and dedicated for its customer base.

The Rising star award was presented to Jack Rowe of Fletcher Moorland, who was recognised for his passion for engineering and how he has immersed himself in the business, going over and above his core role.

A new category for 2021, the Diversity in Engineering award, was shared between two worthy entrants. Central Group was recognised for the way it puts people at the heart of the business, its drive to deliver equal opportunities and a strong commitment to continuous personal development, which has ensured exceptional staff retention and a dedicated and loyal workforce. Heasell Electromechanical Services shared the award reflecting its position as an equal opportunities employer that strives to maintain a working environment where its customers’ and employees’ needs and aspirations are anticipated and exceeded while developing relationships based on trust, consistency, and respect.

The final award for Lifetime Contribution was presented to Tim Marks, who recently retired from the Association after some 20 years as Secretary. The award recognised the fact that Tim has probably put more work into the AEMT than anyone else in the organisation’s history and has been instrumental in the Association growing from strength to strength, representing, promoting, and supporting members from all over the world.
