10 clean energy startups for AWS inaugural accelerator

Amazon Web Services (AWS) launches its Clean Energy Accelerator programme with ten innovative startups from North America, Europe and the Middle East.

The ten companies were selected from over 200 applicants and will receive technical, business and go-to-market mentorship from AWS clean energy experts, up to $50,000 in AWS Promotional Credit and collaboration opportunities with AWS energy customers and others looking for clean energy solutions.

The companies span the spectrum of clean energy development from generation and hydrogen production through to storage and data analysis.

E-zinc, based in Toronto, Canada, has developed an electrochemical technology for storing energy in physically-free zinc metal, opening the way for low cost, long duration energy storage.

The Accelerator will be delivered virtually. Over five weeks, the startups will be connected with AWS energy customers and they will receive technical training in capabilities including machine learning and high performance computing. With the AWS Promotional Credit they will be able to experiment and accelerate how they can transform their data and operations in the cloud.

A final virtual demo day in September will showcase their developments.

The programme is being supported by energy customers including Shell as Vestas, as well as funding and academic partners.
