Yamazaki Mazak to open a brand-new European Technology Center Laser in Milan
Mazak to host Open House event inaugurating the European Technology Center (ETC) Laser on 26th-28th May
Yamazaki Mazak is set to open a brand new headquarters for its European laser business in Milan, Italy.
Established more than a century ago in Japan, Yamazaki Mazak is the gold standard in the industry when it comes to laser cutting equipment. Buying a machine from the Japanese manufacturer means relying on the most innovative and advanced technology delivered by customer-oriented experts.
Over its long history, the company has set up 10 production plants and multiple sales subsidiaries worldwide, with 14 of them being in Europe.
The rising importance of the European subsidiaries, as well as the developments in laser cutting technology, has ultimately led to the creation of a dedicated site, the brand-new European Technology Center (ETC) Laser alongside the Italian subsidiary, located in Cerro Maggiore, near Milan.
The new European Technology Center Laser
The grand opening of the ETC Laser will take place from 26th to 28th May 2022.
The new 800m2 facility features a large showroom where a selection of the company’s flagship laser-cutting machines will be in operation; a Clean Room, for maintenance operations on delicate optical components such as cutting heads; and other technological solutions related to laser-cutting machines. The showroom also includes a Nitrogen Generator that, together with a Gas Mixer, allows Mazak’s engineers to develop new cutting technologies and processes.
Customers will be able to enjoy multiple events and open-days to better understand the company’s expertise. Such an ample floor space can host a complete line-up of machinery to enhance technical training courses with hands-on experiences.
As well as the benefits of the new facility, Mazak laser-cutting machine users will benefit from access to its European Parts Center in Leuven, Belgium. Able to process 20,000 parts per month, 365 days a year, the warehouse can deliver 97% of the spare parts for all Mazak machines within 24 hours across Europe.
Inaugurating the ETC Laser: the Open House event (26th – 28th May)
During the exclusive three-day Open House event, customers will be able to see an extensive selection of Mazak’s laser cutting machine range, all under one roof.
Two brand-new machines will be the stars of the show: the OPTIPLEX 3015 NEO S-15 and the FG-220.
The OPTIPLEX 3015 NEO S-15 – a 2D fiber laser-cutting machine – features the innovative Beam Shaping Mode technology for enhanced control of beam shape and diameter. A new MCT3 Cutting Head and a new MAZATROL Smooth Lx CNC control system ensure optimal performance on a wide range of materials, both in terms of speed and quality. Large front and side access doors, an adjustable control panel, and easy accessibility to the workpiece make this piece of equipment the ideal choice for versatile operations.
The FG-220 is Mazak’s newest fiber laser machine for round, square, rectangular, and open profile (I, L, and H) structural material cutting. Integrating multiple production processes in one single machine means reduced setup time, reduced lead time, fewer operators, and reduced floor space requirements.
Four independent rotating chucks prevent the material from distorting, thus ensuring maximum precision even when working with complex contours. Overall, the FG-220 sets the benchmark for a streamlined production processes.
The OPTIPLEX 3015 NEXUS FIBER 6 kW and the OPTIPLEX 3015 FIBER III 10 kW with CST Automation technology will also be on display.
As well as a suite of laser solutions, visitors to the new ETC Laser can also experience a variety of Mazak machine tools. These will include models from its flagship INTEGREX range of Multi-Tasking machines, as well as the new VARIAXIS C-600 simultaneous 5-axis vertical machining centre and QTE-200M entry-level turning centre.
Mr Gaetano Lo Guzzo, Director Laser Business Europe at Yamazaki Mazak, comments: “Mazak has a rich heritage in the development and delivery of revolutionary laser cutting technologies, and we are looking forward to welcoming laser customers from all over Europe to our new facility.
“It will not only act as fantastic demonstration space, but also play a fundamental role in the overall operational life of many Mazak laser machines – from applications engineering and aftersales support through to the repair and maintenance of critical components. Moreover, there is a rapidly growing customer base that deploys both Mazak laser processing machines and Mazak machine tools. Having a state-of-the-art facility with unrivalled engineering expertise in both disciplines will therefore be an invaluable resource to many European manufacturers.”
