WEG, a leading global motor and drive manufacturer, has announced a series of exclusive activations at COP30, scheduled for 10–21 November 2025 in Belém, Pará, Brazil. Partnering with the Brazilian initiative Voice of the Oceans, led by the Schurmann Family, the company aims to promote ocean protection and recovery through science, education, and innovation.
During the event, the initiative will transform the cultural venue Casa das Onze Janelas into the Casa Vozes do Oceano (Voice of the Ocean House). Open to the public, this space will feature an immersive exhibition supported by WEG and artistic installations encouraging reflection on environmental challenges and the planet’s future.
Beyond exhibition support, WEG will be integral to the energy transition agenda at COP30, presenting case studies and solutions in thematic panels. The company’s sustainability strategy is anchored in four pillars: energy efficiency, operational efficiency, renewable energies, and electric mobility.
The company’s involvement begins even before COP30 officially opens. Aboard the sailing boats Kat and Aysso, part of the Voice of the Oceans mission, WEG will demonstrate sustainable onboard solutions, highlighting clean and efficient technologies for environmentally conscious navigation. The Kat, arriving in Belém in early November, will dock at Casa das Onze Janelas, offering scheduled guided and interactive experiences to visitors.
WEG’s participation underscores its dedication to sustainability and innovation. Acting as Co-Chair of the COP Energy Transition Working Group (SBCOP), an initiative by the Brazilian National Confederation of Industry (CNI), WEG collaborates with organisations globally to elevate the productive sector’s role in climate discussions. Daniel Godinho, Director of Sustainability and Institutional Relations, represents WEG in this effort.
Highlighted in the programme is WEG’s presentation of the Association of Agro-Extractive Workers of Ilha das Cinzas (ATAIC) case, showcasing a community-based agroindustry in the Amazon powered entirely by clean energy. This project, in partnership with Natura, significantly reduces diesel use, costs, and carbon emissions while fostering positive social and economic impacts for riverside communities.
Additionally, WEG will engage in the Virada Sustentável initiative with the Boat of Hope, which journeyed from Manaus to Belém from 4 to 7 November. Docked at COP30 from 10 to 21 November, the vessel will host 250 guests, including business leaders, experts, public sector representatives, and civil society members, to discuss environmental preservation and energy transition.
Through its presence at COP30, WEG reinforces its mission to champion innovation and sustainability. Collaborating with organisations like Voice of the Oceans, WEG highlights that a cleaner, more equitable future hinges on collective action and shared responsibility.
