Vitafoods Europe 2024: market-first synbiotic combination

Clasado Biosciences has revealed that Vitafoods Europe 2024 will see the European debut of its market-first synbiotic offering, developed in partnership with Probi AB.

The combination of Bimuno GOS (prebiotic) and Probi Defendum (probiotic) is one of the first commercial synbiotic concepts available to formulators with a scientifically proven synergistic effect as shown in a recent study, whereby the probiotic demonstrated selective utilisation for the prebiotic offering a next gen synbiotic product targeting immune health. This will be accompanied by the synbiotic concept Bimuno GOS and Probi Digestis, a combination targeting digestive health which comes supported by a collective publication count from both ingredients of over 350.

Vitafoods Europe 2024, taking place 14-16 May 2024 in Geneva, Switzerland, will be an opportunity for brands and formulators to explore scientifically backed synbiotic combinations developed by Clasado and Probi AB with information on the concepts available at Probi’s stand L222.

Dr Frederic Narbel, VP of B2B sales at Clasado, noted how Vitafoods Europe is one of the key European nutraceutical events of the year, and is a focal point for the industry around the globe.

“This makes it the ideal place to formally launch our synbiotic concepts in partnership with Probi AB in Europe,” Narbel continued. “The synbiotic category is growing at speed, and what we offer is a choice of scientifically supported synbiotic concepts, that give our customers enhanced speed to market. These concepts are the synergistic combination of Bimuno GOS and Probi Defendum, designed to support immune health, and complementary gastrointestinal health combination of Bimuno GOS and Probi Digestis.

“Vitafoods isn’t just about the innovation happening today, it’s about looking to the future – and that’s exactly what we’re doing. Attendees can connect with our team alongside Probi on stand L222 and get a headstart in the development of consumer-ready synbiotic products.”

The synbiotic concepts use Clasado’s multi award-winning prebiotic ingredient, Bimuno GOS, and therefore can also capitalise on a wide range of geographical specific health clams. The ingredient stands out in the health and nutrition market as the most comprehensively studied prebiotic of its kind, supported by more than 120 published scientific studies, including more than 20 clinical trials.

Like Bimuno GOS, Probi Defendum and Probi Digestis probiotic ingredients are the subject of comprehensive scientific research. As a result, the components within the synbiotic concepts available from Clasado and Probi are collectively backed by close to 400 publications.

Dr Narbel continued: “It’s a very exciting time for nutraceutical developers who can now access a synbiotic concept that has undergone scientific validation. The combination of Bimuno GOS + Probi Defendum was shown to have a synergistic effect, and to increase levels of lactate and butyrate, an important short-chain fatty acid (SCFA) in supporting immunity. Importantly, the combination did not result in excess gas production, which suggests high tolerability, and even more versatility for product developers. This scientific research gives brands and formulators added confidence in a pre and probiotic combination that is proven to work effectively together.

“We look forward to attending the event and attendees are encouraged to get in touch and arrange a meeting with our team. We look forward to showcasing the synbiotic concepts at stand L222 at Vitafoods Europe 2024 and introducing the global nutraceutical market to the future of scientifically validated synbiotic formulations.”
