Ulrick & Short’s new line of starches provide superior stability for sauces and soups

Ulrick & Short has expanded its starch portfolio with the launch of their new synergie A range – designed for thickening & stabilising whilst simplifying ingredient declarations.

The specialist in clean label ingredients noted that as consumer demand for natural and minimally processed foods continues to rise, manufacturers face the challenge of achieving optimal textures without relying on complex ingredient lists.

The synergie A range bridges this gap through offering stability across a variety of factory processes whilst maintaining a clean label declaration.

The synergie A range has been developed to meet the specific demands of soups, sauces, fillings & ready meal applications, where slow thickening and viscosity building are essential for achieving desired textures.

The range features four high stability maize starches, available in cook up, cold water swelling and agglomerated formats. This highly functional solution has been designed to withstand high shear, extreme temperatures, pH variations and pressure, making it ideal across a broad spectrum of processing conditions to provide manufacturers with the optimal solution.

The synergie A range maintains clean label integrity through undergoing physical processing methods which enhances the crops natural functionality, ensuring the native declaration is retained whilst delivering on stability and texture.

Ulrick & Short’s product innovation scientist, Kate Lefroy said “the uniquely designed clean label treatment greatly enhances the native starch structure, improving the granular stability and allowing the starch to create and maintain viscosity during extensive periods of cooking.”

Lefroy added: “Food manufacturers can reduce or eliminate their reliance on chemically modified starches, opting for a highly functional, clean label option, without compromising on stability or texture. Consumers can feel empowered to choose food products offering clean and friendly label declarations.”
