UK Power Networks appoints Paul Kerr as new finance director

Britain’s biggest electricity distributor UK Power Networks has appointed Paul Kerr, recent group chief financial officer at SES Water, as finance director.

With a wealth of experience in the utilities sector, Kerr has a background in corporate financing strategy and planning. Kerr was with SES Water for seven years, and UK Power Networks says he has been instrumental in steering the company’s financial direction and major transactions.

Kerr’s career includes roles at PwC in both the UK and San Francisco. His extensive experience spans across the UK utility and US oil and gas sectors.

Said Kerr in a release: “I am excited to join UK Power Networks and contribute to its mission of delivering safe and reliable electricity to millions of customers, meet the talented team and help drive financial excellence in this dynamic industry.”

Kerr will soon join the UK Power Networks, which owns and runs the cables and substations that deliver electricity from the national grid to 8.5 million homes and businesses across London, the South East and East of England, serving approximately 20 million people.

As the country’s biggest electricity distributor, it has invested £8 billion ($10.5 billion) in its electricity networks since 2011, focusing on safety, network reliability, sustainability and affordability.

It is also a founder member of the Levelling up Coalition, and number one on the UK Inclusive Companies list, and UK Employer of the Year, according to Platinum – Investors In People.

The firm is a top performer in the eyes of industry regulator Ofgem and is currently two years into a five-year funding period to 2028.
