UK aerospace manufacturer awarded AS9100 at Redditch factory

An aerospace manufacturing company based in Redditch has been awarded AS9100 accreditation for assembly operations at its new factory.

The facility of Mettis Aerospace has been built in response to a multi-million-pound contract from a leading aircraft manufacturer.

This latest award, covering the assembly of critical components for aircraft, provides an extension to its long-standing AS9100 accreditation which recognises robust quality management systems in aerospace.

The factory called MACH 1, based in Redditch, Worcestershire, offers advanced levels of machining automation and ‘no-faults-forward’ assembly technology for forged components.

The factory houses six new machines integrated with Fastems systems which have been delivered in partnership with Heller Machine Tools and Seco Tools.

Mettis has been providing assembly services for a number of years, in addition to design, tooling, forging, machining and test, and this extension to our AS9100 accreditation recognises our excellence in this rapidly expanding area of our business.

“We’re proud of how the whole team has come together to enable Mettis to receive this latest accreditation following a robust audit,” said Robin Jones, technical services director. “We look forward to growing this area of our business further and delivering assembled components direct to more customers’ assembly lines worldwide.”
