TotalEnergies and Amazon partner on renewables and digital transformation
Global energy company TotalEnergies and internet giant Amazon have partnered to assist each other in their respective energy transition and digital transformation journeys.
TotalEnergies will assist Amazon to reach its sustainability and carbon emissions reductions goal by providing the company with renewable energy. Amazon will help TotalEnergies to accelerate its digital transformation.
The two companies have signed power purchase agreements that will enable TotalEnergies to provide Amazon with 474 MW of renewable energy capacity to power the company’s US and European operations. The deal is expected to help Amazon to reach its goal of powering its global operations with 100% renewable energy by 2030 and to reach net-zero emissions by 2040. The two plan to expand their renewable energy cooperation in the Middle East and the Asia Pacific.

The deal is part of efforts by TotalEnergies to expand its presence in the clean energy retail market. The company is building a portfolio of activities in renewables and electricity that should account for up to 40% of its sales by 2050.
With digitalisation becoming a core element of the energy transition and companies’ foundations to remain competitive in future business cases, TotalEnergies will leverage Amazon’s cloud services to speed up its digital transformation.
TotalEnergies will leverage this partnership to accelerate its move to the cloud, boosting its IT transformation, the digitisation of its operations, and its digital innovation. Amazon will provide infrastructure, speed, reliability, and innovative services to improve TotalEnergies’ Digital Factory. This will enable the energy company to enhance the management of its workflow processes and speed up innovation.
