Toolstation colleague braves the shave for Macmillan Cancer Support

Toolstation colleague Fiona Staples will be participating in Macmillan Cancer Support’s Brave the Shave campaign to help raise money for people whose lives have been affected by cancer.

Fiona, who currently works in the Contact Centre at Toolstation’s Head Office in Bridgwater, will be shaving her head in front of fellow colleagues on 4 May. Fiona has set a fundraising goal of £1,000, with £195 raised so far.

Spending £1,000 on Macmillan’s phone service could lead to the charity’s welfare rights advisers on the Support Line helping people affected by cancer to claim £25,716 in benefits that they are entitled to.

Alternatively, the £1,000 total could pay for a Macmillan nurse for one week, helping people living with cancer and their families receive essential medical, practical, and emotional support.

Fiona comments: “I am always looking for ways to give back to the community and raise money for a good cause. When Toolstation’s charity partner Macmillan visited our office and illustrated the amazing care and services they offer, I immediately knew I had to support their work and ensure their services are available to the people who need them most.”

George Michell, Partnership Manager at Macmillan Cancer Support, says, “We are immensely grateful to Fiona for committing to brave the shave to raise vital funds for Macmillan. As a charity that relies almost entirely on donations, it is the generous support of the public and valued partners like Toolstation that enables us to continue doing whatever it takes to give people living with cancer the support they need, when they need it most.”

Fiona’s fundraising will form another contribution to the Brave the Shave campaign, which has raised over £22 million for Macmillan since launching in 2015. Those who would like to support Fiona can donate via her Brave the Shave page.
