Rockwell Automation has announced that THG Nutrition, owner of the Myprotein brand, has chosen the Plex Manufacturing Execution System (MES) to unify its manufacturing operations and enhance real-time visibility. This strategic move is designed to drive operational excellence and support the company’s rapid growth across multiple sites.
THG Nutrition, delivering high-quality sports nutrition products to over 70 countries, operates numerous manufacturing facilities globally. As part of THG PLC, known for its innovation and efficiency, the company will first deploy Plex MES at its Warrington, UK facility — one of its largest sites — with future plans to extend this implementation to other locations.
Adam Pyne, THG’s production director, highlights the system’s benefits, stating, “Plex gives us the platform to act fast and smart. With real-time dashboards, guided work instructions, and mobile-enabled inventory tracking, our teams can make informed decisions and optimise scheduling. Plex breaks down operational siloes and empowers our people to collaborate across departments, supporting our commitment to continuous improvement and world-class quality.”
The transition to Plex was driven by the need for real-time operational visibility and the inefficiencies of legacy systems and manual processes. By adopting this cloud-based solution, THG Nutrition gains a unified digital infrastructure that updates automatically, ensuring compliance and operational resilience while improving cost predictability.
THG Nutrition’s growth strategy, which includes acquisitions, necessitates the rapid deployment of standardised processes across new sites. Plex’s configurable, no-code platform allows for quick replication of solutions, maintaining consistency and efficiency in the company’s expansion. Moreover, the cloud-based system offers flexibility for divestitures, enabling THG to readily adjust its IT framework as necessary.
Tom Forster, regional vice president of enterprise software sales for EMEA at Rockwell Automation, noted, “THG Nutrition is growing fast, and Plex is the right solution for that journey. THG selected Plex for its ability to unify manufacturing operations, deliver real-time insights, and support scalable growth. Our platform enables THG to standardise processes, reduce total cost of ownership, and maintain agility in a dynamic market.”
Key features of Plex include real-time dashboards for identifying bottlenecks, optimised scheduling to enforce compliance, and a unified data platform to lower IT costs. Additionally, Plex’s train-the-trainer approach empowers THG’s team to independently manage and deploy the system, providing control over their digital roadmap.
Adam Pyne further emphasised Rockwell Automation’s expertise in the food and beverage sector as a decisive factor in selecting Plex, citing its ability to meet auditing requirements and deliver measurable value as differentiators in the market.
