Under the new partnership agreement, SinoHyKey (SHK) will supply the membrane electrode assembly (MEA) – a crucial part of TECO 2030’s hydrogen fuel cell system – to enable decarbonization within the maritime transportation industry.

The duo anticipates that the newly established collaboration will continue if both parties can reach key development milestones successfully.

TECO 2030 is also working with Shell and several other partners on the HyEkoTank project, which aims to retrofit a product tanker with 2.4MW fuel cells in 2024 to enable zero-emissions operations in port and up to a 100% reduction in emissions. To date, the project has received €5m (US$5.3m) in funding from Horizon Europe.
