Synergy Flavours, a prominent entity in flavouring and taste modulation, has unveiled an array of flavour-paired solutions aimed at enriching the taste profile of greens ready-to-mix (RTM) powders. These innovations, part of Synergy’s Paired to Perfection portfolio, employ advanced taste modulation techniques to mitigate off-notes while amplifying desirable flavour compounds.
The initiative utilises sensory and analytical data to identify essential fragrance constituents in unflavoured powders, facilitating the creation of new flavour-paired concepts that complement greens powders at a molecular level. Current consumer data indicates a preference for products labelled as ‘unflavoured’ and ‘original,’ although over 20% of these products actually declare a flavouring on the packaging, suggesting the use of either specialist taste modulation ingredients or unspecified “original” flavours.
Synergy’s new flavour range includes lime & mint, peach tea, ginger tea, watermelon, tropical, and an ‘original’ option. This original variant leverages flavour pairing data to enhance the inherent fruity notes of the product without overpowering them.
Chris Whiting, European category development manager at Synergy Flavours, notes: “Following the explosion of the US greens market, with growth from $112m in 2023 to $209m in 2024, the European market is projected to see a CAGR of 7.7% between 2023 and 2030. As consumers continue to seek new and convenient ways to maximise their nutrition intake, we’re seeing this rising demand take hold. The Synergy Paired to Perfection approach, based on advanced taste modulation techniques that isolate and pair complementary flavours at molecular level, provides a range of options to help manufacturers stake their claim in this competitive and fast-growing market.”
The greens market is witnessing significant growth, driven by increasing consumer demand for convenient nutritional solutions. This presents a lucrative opportunity for manufacturers to innovate and differentiate their offerings in an evolving market landscape.
