Swan Hellenic floats out SH Minerva first expedition cruise ship
Swan Hellenic has announced that shipbuilder Helsinki Shipyard has floated the recently completed SH Minerva cruise ship out of its dry dock.
Measuring 115m in length, the SH Minerva features a 5MW diesel-electric hybrid propulsion system and selective catalytic reduction. Designed for trips to some of Earth’s most challenging destinations, the 10,500grt vessel, capable of carrying 120 staff and 152 guests, has a PC5 ice-strengthened hull that is fully Safe Return to Port certified.

With two more ships currently in the construction process, the trio of vessels have all been designed to have a minimal environmental impact and will comply with the latest and strictest emissions regulations. All are battery-ready for emission-free sailing in ports and wildlife and marine reserves.
On board, the vessel features an expedition laboratory, a marine life library and an observation lounge for lectures. It also benefits from hygiene technology such as air-conditioning with HEPA filters and UV sanitization systems.
Swan Hellenic will take delivery of the SH Minerva in October this year, with the second ship, SH Vega, expected to be delivered in spring 2022. The third vessel, temporarily named Vega 3, will be completed for delivery by autumn 2022.
