Springpack’s eco-friendly packaging reduces plastic waste

Packaging specialist Springpack has announced new innovations designed to reduce plastic waste and drive sustainability across the UK’s food and drink distribution supply chain.

With a rapidly growing customer base in food manufacturing, chilled logistics, and FMCG, Springpack is rolling out its Armour Wrap and Perforated Pallet Wrap – two high-performance solutions that reduce film usage, lower plastic packaging tax liabilities, and enhance pallet
stability and product safety.

“Our clients are under immense pressure to cut waste, meet ESG targets, and maintain operational efficiency,” said James York, managing director at Springpack. “These products are designed to deliver on all fronts – sustainability, performance, and cost.”

Armour Wrap is a next generation stretch film that uses up to 60% less plastic per pallet while delivering superior strength. It reduces carbon emissions and our exclusive to Springpack 100% PCR films are 100% recyclable and perform exceptionally on automated wrapping systems or by conventional hand wrapping.

Perforated Pallet Wrap, ideal for fresh and chilled food goods, allows airflow through the wrap to reduce condensation — supporting longer shelf-life, lower spoilage, and safer transportation. The launch aligns with growing regulatory and commercial demands, including the UK’s Plastic Packaging Tax, Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) regulations, and rising pressure from major retailers to improve packaging sustainability across the supply chain.

Springpack is offering free packaging audits and on-site trials to help food and drink businesses assess their wrap usage and explore cost-saving and eco-friendly alternatives.
