Spanish industry associations partner on digitalisation in the energy transition

Spain’s Association of Electricity Companies (aelēc) and the Spanish Association for Digitalisation (DigitalES) have signed a collaborative agreement.

With both associations promoting the decarbonisation of the Spanish economy, they intend to collaborate on innovation and digitalisation with the aim of achieving an optimal energy transition, according to a statement.

The agreement establishes the basis for developing joint projects for the benefit of their members in areas including the deployment of connectivity and the integration of innovative technology solutions and tools in their respective sectors.

“The energy sector [is] at a turning point due to the transition towards a more sustainable and efficient model, with growing demand for electrical energy and the emergence of new forms of consumption.

“This represents a challenge for the electricity distribution networks, which must take advantage of the potential of the main technologies for their automation and digitalisation”.

Miguel Sánchez Galindo, General Manager of DigitalES, said the agreement reinforces the commitment to digitalisation as a driving force to achieve competitive improvement in all sectors of activity.

“The collaboration with aelēc will allow us to move forward more easily in connectivity deployments with the recognition of the responsible declaration for the development of infrastructures, as stated in the General Telecommunications Law.”

With this alliance, the statement adds, DigitalES and aelēc reinforce their commitment to intersectoral collaboration as a key tool to face the challenges of the future and promote technological innovation in the Spanish economy.
