Sealed Air’s CRYOVAC brand wins UK Packaging Awards 2021 for Resource Efficient Pack of the Year

Sealed Air is celebrating a win in the recently held UK Packaging Awards, with an innovative packaging film designed with the circular economy in mind.

The global packaging company took home the award for Resource Efficient Pack of the Year with its CRYOVAC Brand rBDF S10 Film. This ultra-thin food packaging film is made using up to 30% food-grade Certified Circular Resins (CCR) which is certified by the International Sustainability & Carbon Certification (ISCC). The ISCC is an independent organisation and a global leader in accrediting materials and processes for the circular economy.

At only 21 microns, CRYOVAC Brand rBDF S10 Film is a third lighter than widely used HFFS packs and three times thinner than other thermoformable films. The film was developed to be recycled back into food-grade packaging film via a process of advanced recycling called pyrolysis and this concept was proven with the collaboration of several companies in a closed-loop system.

Stephanie Poole, senior business development manager at Sealed Air, commented: “At the awards ceremony, the presenter said that there had been tough competition for the category and there were three products awarded Highly Commended so we were very proud when our product was announced as the winner.

This project supports Sealed Air’s pledge to design and advance our innovative packaging solutions to be 100% recyclable or reusable by 2025.”

The UK Packaging Awards was held in London on 12 November.
