Schwarz Produktion expands bakery
Schwarz Produktion is signalling its intentions for the future by investing more than €300 million in the large bakery Bonback Halle (Saale).
After acquiring the factory last year, production capacities are now being significantly expanded. In addition, a deep-freeze high-bay warehouse is being built as the new logistics hub for the site in Star Park Halle (Saale). The number of jobs is set to increase by more than 400.
Egbert Geier, the CEO of Schwarz Produktion, Jörg Aldenkott, presented the project at a press conference in the presence of the Minister of Economic Affairs of Saxony-Anhalt, Sven Schulze, and the Mayor of Halle.
“With the expansion of the Bonback Halle (Saale), we are responding to the great success of our baked goods in the Lidl and Kaufland bakeries. Customers appreciate the excellent quality of Bonback products. Not least for this reason, the Lidl bakery was again named the best bakery in 2024,” says Jörg Aldenkott.
Bonback Halle (Saale) consistently relies on the combination of traditional baking craftsmanship and modern production methods. The Bonback dough is prepared gently without preservatives, based on predominantly regional ingredients and with a long cooking time. The stone oven ensures that the breads and rolls from Halle have a unique taste.
During a tour of the Bonback Halle (Saale), Economics Minister Sven Schulze was delighted: “The investment by Schwarz Produktion is a strong signal for Halle, for Saxony-Anhalt and for our economic development. 300 million euros, over 400 new jobs – this shows that our state offers companies excellent conditions for growth. This secures jobs, strengthens our region and makes it clear that Saxony-Anhalt is a top location for investments.”
Mayor Egbert Geier added: “The expansion of Bonback Halle (Saale) shows once again that the city offers the best conditions for business settlements. We support investors with central contacts and keep communication channels short. This means that construction can begin immediately for Bonback. Not least thanks to our consistent, continuous expansion of the infrastructure in Star Park, we have created the conditions for Schwarz Produktion to get involved. I am delighted that we have found the company as a partner. The investment strengthens us on the path to sustainable and future-oriented economic development.”
“The expansion is a clear commitment to the Halle (Saale) location. Here we find optimal conditions for further development. This ranges from a motivated and highly qualified team of employees, to the necessary space, to the unbureaucratic support from the city administration,” concludes Jörg Aldenkott.
