Rolec unveils new diecast enclosures for defence

Growing demand for defence electronics drives ROLEC’s innovations. ROLEC’s aluminium enclosures, known for their IP ratings, now cater to electronics in vehicles, warships, and training technologies. These enclosures include advanced features like EMC shielding and weather-resistant coatings, meeting stringent military standards. ROLEC offers customisation to meet specific operational needs.

ROLEC has witnessed a significant surge in demand for its aluminium enclosures, driven by the expanding requirements of the defence electronics sector. These enclosures, distinguished by their robust IP ratings, are increasingly utilised in tracked and wheeled vehicles, warships, fleet auxiliaries, and military logistics technologies.

The premium aluDOOR enclosure, available with IP 66, IP 67, IP 68, and IP 69K ratings, features a recessed or smooth top section designed for high-tech controls and display systems. Its ‘lid closed’ installation ensures the protection of seals and electronics. Meanwhile, the versatile aluKOM, with an IP 66 rating, offers a range of terminal enclosures that are compatible with standard sizes, facilitating easy replacement of existing units.

The multivariable aluNORM enclosures, rated IP 66 and IP 67, are offered in four variants based on combinations of flat and raised covers and base sections. The advanced conFORM model provides built-in EMC shielding, thanks to a patented tooth and rail system incorporated into the lid and base, eliminating the need for an additional EMC gasket.

ROLEC’s ergonomic handCASE enclosure, also rated IP 66 and IP 67, is available in two configurations: the S version with a bevelled lid and the R version with a narrow-edged lid. All enclosures are coated with highly weather-resistant powder coatings (F9), approved by WIWeB, and available in camouflage colours suitable for military applications. The premium polyester powder 5936 comes in standard colours RAL 6031-F9 bronze green, RAL 1039-F9 sand beige, RAL 8027-F9 leather brown, and RAL 9021-F9 tar black, offering excellent camouflage in the visible and near-infrared spectral range.

These coatings are also offered in a wet-painted finish, compliant with the defence equipment standard VG 95211. Accessories provided include cable glands, pressure compensation elements, terminal blocks, mounting plates, rails, hinges, brackets, and lid supports.

ROLEC’s customisation services extend to CNC machining, engraving, EMC shielding, bonding of display discs, screen and digital printing, tin and electroless nickel plating, SurTec 650 protection, and the assembly of cable glands and terminals. For further details, visit ROLEC’s website.
