Rockwell Automation has introduced FactoryTalk Design Workbench, a complimentary design software tailored specifically for micro control systems. This initial version supports Micro800 controllers, providing a cohesive platform for programming, configuration, and troubleshooting tasks.
The software offers a streamlined approach for machine builders and manufacturers working with compact, standalone systems. Sectors such as packaging, water and wastewater, agriculture, and materials handling, which traditionally face lengthy development cycles and fragmented tools, stand to benefit from this new solution. FactoryTalk Design Workbench facilitates the entire process from programming to deployment while enabling support for multiple devices, easing the complexity of system management.
Notable features in the software’s first version include a modern design environment that ensures a consistent Logix experience, enhancing onboarding speed. It also boasts improved download speed and online workflows, contributing to operational efficiency. Furthermore, multi-device support for Micro810 and newer Micro800 Lx0E controllers allows simultaneous access to multiple controllers, simplifying troubleshooting processes.

Currently available through Rockwell’s Product Compatibility & Downloads Centre (PCDC), FactoryTalk Design Workbench is set for future expansions beyond Micro800 controllers, with annual updates anticipated. Industry professionals can gain further insights and hands-on experience with the new software at the Automation Fair event, scheduled for 17-20 November at McCormick Place, Chicago.
