Renaker secures Manchester skyscraper development

Renaker has secured planning permission to go ahead with its new development in Manchester, which will see a ‘family’ of skyscrapers redefine the Manchester skyline.

Manchester City Council has green-lighted the development on Deansgate that will consist of five skyscrapers once built.

The largest building, called Plot D, is set to be 71-storeys tall, at 213 metres (698 ft). While the other four, called Contour, will range from 47- to 51-storeys tall. The development will fit into the masterplan for the area, which Renaker has already built, including luxury 200m-high Deansgate Square towers, a primary school, medical centre, and a public square. Further amenity development will also take place as part of the construction.

At £300M, the largest building will feature a ‘lantern’ design at the top, which echoes the motif of a lighthouse. The ‘lantern’ will feature a publicly-accessible restaurant boasting 360-degree views of the city.

Contour is a brand new 51-storey tower set within New Jackson – a new urban neighbourhood at the Southern gateway to Manchester city centre.

Offering a collection of one-, two- and three-bedroom apartments and penthouses, Contour will boast unmatched amenities that are elegant but understated and create a living experience where every detail has been considered and refined.

Already transforming the Manchester city skyline, the area is becoming a sustainable, attractive, diverse neighbourhood where residents of all kinds feel proud to live, raise families and call home.

Contour’s structure is shaped by an elegant glass façade, complemented by anodised aluminium cladding in a subtle green metallic tone.

Contour’s character is most strongly defined by the sculpted edges, which draw in and out every five storeys, providing dynamic vertical movement to the tower’s aesthetic. This subtle contour gives the building an understated, stylish presence in the iconic Manchester skyline.
