Quectel empowers Robustel’s 5G industrial router with next-generation cellular connectivity for the IIoT
Quectel’s 5G New Radio (NR) sub-6GHz module the RM500Q-AE has been selected by Robustel, a global provider of industrial IoT routers and gateways, to support its first 5G industrial router – the R5020.
The R5020 has been designed to deliver high bandwidth, low latency and high reliability connectivity for in-vehicle, branch office and industrial IoT applications.
With Quectel’s 5G module inside, the R5020 industrial router is able to work on 5G NR Sub-6GHz bands in both standalone (SA) and non-standalone (NSA) modes as well as on global 4G/LTE and 3G networks. With the support of 2 x 2 MIMO uplink technology in SA mode, the router can provide more real-time, bandwidth sensitive, low-latency data transmission for applications such as industrial controls, smart offices, logistics, smart cities, ports and many others.
As one of the key enablers of industrial controls, the industrial router not only requires rapid response times, but also reliable and stable communication in complex industrial and harsh environments. The R5020 offers a robust industrial design alongside a rich variety of interfaces such as 4 gigabit Ethernet interfaces, I/O, 2.4 GHz and 5GHz Wi-Fi. All these features enable the deployment of high-speed IoT devices in various segments including medical, oil and gas, retail, energy, and environmental protection.
Key features of the R5020 5G industrial router:
- Global 5G/4G/3G cellular coverage
- Support for Ethernet, Wi-Fi and 4G/5G internet with WAN-failover
- Fully programmable Operating System with a well-documented SDK
- Multiple industry standard VPN options available including DMVPN and IPSEC
- GNSS/GPS and ignition sensing for in-vehicle applications
- Compact design with industrial grade metal enclosure
As a proven industrial grade module, the RM500Q-AE has been supporting hundreds of industrial and commercial customers to design 5G devices and is now commercially available in applications such as industrial routers, smart TVs, HD live broadcast, smart power, rugged tablets and more.
Designed in the M.2 form factor, the 5G NR module is compatible with Quectel’s LTE-A Cat 6 module EM06, Cat 12 modules EM12-G/EM120R-GL/EM121R-GL, and Cat 16 module EM160R-GL, which facilitate customers’ migrations from LTE-A to 5G.
Currently, the RM500Q-AE has been certified by global regulatory institutions including GCF (Global Certification Forum), RED (Radio Equipment Directive), KC (Korea Certification), RCM (Regulatory Compliance Mark) and SRRC (State Radio Regulatory Committee).
