Quantum Controls Celebrates National Apprenticeship Week

To showcase the real impact of our apprenticeship programme, we spoke to some of our current apprentices about their experiences at Quantum Controls.

Cameron Brewis – Apprentice Design Engineer

Why did you choose to go into an apprenticeship?
“I wanted to earn a qualification while gaining practical experience on the job and earning a wage at the same time.”

Why did you choose an apprenticeship at Quantum Controls?
“TDR Training recommended Quantum Controls to me as a great place to develop my skills and career.”

What has been the most valuable thing you have learned so far?
“Understanding wiring schematics has been incredibly useful. My time here has also opened my eyes to more potential future roles within engineering.”

Would you recommend an apprenticeship to others?
“Yes, definitely!”

What are your future career plans?
“To become a competent and reliable design engineer.”

“I play football, love going to Newcastle matches, and enjoy traveling and going out.”

Jack Shackleton – Apprentice Design Engineer

Why did you choose to go into an apprenticeship?
“I wanted to gain hands-on experience while working towards a qualification and earning a wage.”

Why did you choose an apprenticeship at Quantum Controls?
“The job role stood out to me compared to other opportunities at the time, and it sparked my interest.”

What has been the most valuable thing you have learned so far?
“Being able to read and create technical drawings, as well as wiring our panels when needed.”

Would you recommend an apprenticeship to others?
“Yes, especially for those who are unsure of their career path.”

What are your future career plans?
“To become a confident and independent design engineer.”

“I enjoy hiking, playing football, and socialising with friends.”

James Smith – Apprentice Engineer

Why did you choose to go into an apprenticeship?
“My Dad and brother both pursued apprenticeships when they were my age, and they say it was one of the best decisions they ever made in their careers.”

Why did you choose an apprenticeship at Quantum Controls?
“Another Apprentice recommended the company to me, and after my interview and workshop tour with Jonathan, I knew this was the right job for me.”

What has been the most valuable thing you have learned so far?
“The importance of work ethic when tackling long and challenging jobs. I’ve also developed a stronger and more positive mindset, learning to complete tasks I never thought I could when I first started.”

Would you recommend an apprenticeship to others?
“Yes, because it allows you to earn money while gaining crucial skills for your future career.”

What are your future career plans?
“To complete my apprenticeship and HNC at Quantum Controls before exploring further opportunities.”

“I enjoy football and going to the gym. These hobbies have taught me key qualities like endurance and teamwork, which have been valuable during my apprenticeship.”
