Pukpip revolutionises frozen snacking with a tasty twist
Following on from the successful launch of Real Frozen Bananas Dipped in Chocolate at the beginning of the year, Pukpip reveals the next frozen treat in development, Real Banana Bites.
The new product comprises 16 slices, or ‘bites’, of frozen banana, dipped in milk chocolate, dark chocolate or peanut butter.
The three new frozen variants will be launching to market in March 2024 and packaged in resealable pouches for consumers to be able to grab and share straight from the freezer. Both the dark chocolate and the peanut butter variants will be vegan, and each pouch will contain 4 servings.
Pukpip first launched in January this year with retail boxes of 3 chocolate dipped frozen bananas in milk or dark chocolate. The frozen fruit innovators then added a third white chocolate variant in July alongside the launch of singles available to hospitality and convenience retail.
Managing director Zara Godfrey notes that following the fantastic response to the frozen bananas, the brand is “super excited” to bring a sharing bag option to shelves.
Pukpip’s bananas are responsibly sourced and freshly frozen from the coastal region of Ecuador. Using bananas rejected from export due to small imperfections on their skin, because they’re the wrong shape or size, or simply because there are too many on a bunch, Pukpip rescues these bananas that would otherwise go to waste, helping them find their true calling as tasty, chocolate-covered treats. The banana peels are then upcycled back into the ecosystem.
Zara Godfrey adds: “The indulgent frozen fruit category has already been proven in the US, and with discussion in the UK rightly focussed on ultra processed foods now, we know consumers are looking for more real fruit products without artificial ingredients. Our Real Banana Bites are made with real banana slices and chocolate or peanut butter, nothing artificial. Bites deliver on convenience as well as permissible indulgence, allowing consumers to treat themselves, while getting more fruit into the diet.”
