Provisur’s Formax SX550 slicer increases efficiency, flexibility and quality
High throughput, precise portion control, easy to clean and use, optional integration into a Press-to-Slice solution – and all of this with the smallest possible footprint.
The new Formax SX550 slicer from Provisur increases efficiency, flexibility and quality when slicing products such as bacon, cooked and raw ham, sausage specialties or cheese. It sets new standards for high speed slicing.
The Formax SX550 slicer, part of the SX series platform, features the largest slicing throat in its class. The machine can be configured for optimal performance based on specific product requirements, even for particularly demanding applications such as slicing bacon, pork belly, or raw ham.
The slicer, with its robust and durable design, features a torsion-resistant frame to ensure precise alignment over the life of the slicer. It boasts a large slicing throat of 550 x 206 mm and achieves a maximum blade speed of 2000 RPM. Three product feed lengths, including an 800 mm option, reduce loading times to just a few seconds. The high performance slicer also has a very compact footprint to fit into plants with limited floor space.
The Formax SX550 slices products at top speed, achieving this premium quality due to its superior design, which features two independent product drives with both an upper and a lower feed. The feed belts extend all the way to the blade, ensuring precise control over the product right up to the final slice.
The blade design guarantees excellent cutting quality even at maximum speeds. High-quality blades, manufactured in Europe, are finely tuned for a precise slicing process that meets the specific requirements of European products. Due to various blade profile options and coatings, the machine is perfectly suited for slicing a wide range of applications. The wide slicing throat ensures optimal positioning of the products during slicing, which not only enhances the slicing process itself but also ensures a visually appealing presentation of each portion.
The Formax SX550 slicer’s open construction, swivel-mounted control panel (HMI) and easily removable cartridges make all components highly accessible for the cleaning process. All parts, except for the blade, can be removed without the use of tools. This facilitates residue-free cleaning and reduces the time required for this process by up to 50%. The SX550’s motors are rated IP69K, making them suitable for high-pressure cleaning at elevated temperatures.
A key feature of the slicer is its ability to accommodate additional functionality after installation. This includes adding features such as extra scales or a second product drive to adapt to changing requirements.
The centerpiece of the line is the Hoegger X3 Form Press, which uses servo-hydraulic technology to press meat pieces into precise, uniform shapes. The Press-to-Slice module, which includes a 3D scanner and a weighing scale, transmits the product data to the Formax SX550 slicer, which then produces accurate portion weights at top speed.
