Plug-and-play EV charging services launched by FlexGen
Energy storage and software provider FlexGen Power Systems’ EV charging solution combines its HybridOS 9.3 platform with a containerised energy storage system.
The charging solution is designed to enable the energy consumption and charging costs of electric vehicles (EVs) to be optimised by prioritising lowest cost energy and the charging station continuing to operate, regardless of the state of the grid.
New features of the updated HybridOS 9.3 energy management platform include optimised energy use during EV charging and participation in regional power markets and demand response programmes.
“EVs are the future and flexible, advanced, available EV charging is the most important step to realising that future,” said Kelcy Pegler, CEO of FlexGen.

“With Hybrid OS, FlexGen is perfectly positioned to meet the Biden Administration’s plan to provide onsite charging along the national highway system.”
With the need to rapidly expand EV charging infrastructure across nations to enable the take up of EVs that is demanded, plug and play options are a vital component, particularly in areas where other grid infrastructure is limited.
FlexGen’s solution, aimed at easy installation for fleet use, is claimed to seamlessly integrate with on-site energy resources.
Other features include automated charging sessions to optimise the load and grid service integration with built in ancillary capabilities to participate in energy markets.
With management of the charging infrastructure in a single location, with aggregation of all the assets, operators are enabled to build a virtual power plant.
FlexGen runs a fleet of energy storage assets operating throughout the US with investor-owned utilities, municipalities, cooperative utilities and independent power producers.
In August 2021 FlexGen received a $150 million boost to accelerate the company’s growth and the capabilities it offers in an investment round led by asset manager Apollo Global Investment.
Among recent projects, FlexGen was selected to deliver storage solutions for ten North Carolina cooperatives.
