Plastic bottles made into high-visibility workwear
DENMARK: Engel Workwear has launched the Safety Light range of high visibility protective safety clothing with 50% of the material made from recycled plastic bottles.
The regenerated polyester fibres spun from plastic bottles is combined with 40% cotton and 10% standard polyester to produce a cool-to-wear, durable fabric. The manufacturer says this offers significant energy, water and CO2 savings.
The range includes boiler suits made from 37 plastic bottles, work jackets (20 bottles), trousers (19 bottles) with kneepad pockets and elasticated waistbands, bib overalls (23 bottles) and shorts (14 bottles).
There is also a specific range designed for women.
