OMRON awarded third EcoVadis Platinum Rating for outstanding sustainability performance

OMRON Corporation (Headquarters: Shimogyo-ku, Kyoto; President and CEO: Junta Tsujinaga) has been recognized as the top 1% of all businesses assessed for sustainability performance, therefore being awarded the Platinum rating by EcoVadis. This is the third time OMRON is receiving this international Platinum recognition since fiscal year 2020.

Leading to this Platinum recognition for 2023, OMRON received advanced scores in the four measurement areas ‘Environment’ (80/100), ‘Labor and Human Rights’ (80/100), ‘Sustainable Procurement’ (80/100), and ‘Ethics’ (70/100). In these four categories, the following strengths contributing to the Platinum certification are notable:  

  • Environment: OMRON was recognized for being the first manufacturing company in Japan to join EP100, having all of manufactureing sites ISO 14001 certified, the company is communicating progress on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and the company is certified by the Science Based Targets Initiative (SBTi), an international initiative.
  • Labor & Human Rights: OMRON’s human rights policy on diversity, equity, and inclusion (DE&I); its impact assessments identifying potential child labor, forced labor and/or human trafficking; and comprehensive reporting on labor and human rights issues as part of the first stage (FY22-FY24) of OMRON’s long-term vision, Shaping the Future 2030 (SF2030). 
  • Sustainable Procurement: OMRON provides the training for employees on sustainable procurement and discloses the percentage of suppliers that have received CSR evaluations.
  • Ethics: the company’s ISO 27001 certification of information security management systems, information security risk assessments, and audits of control procedures to prevent information security breaches.
