Nominations now open for the best utility customer-centric programs

The Smart Energy Consumer Collaborative (SECC) recently
announced the opening of the nominations window for the 2021 Best Practices
Awards, a unique awards program that highlights leadership from electricity
providers in developing customer-centric programs, services and strategies.

Previous recipients of SECC’s Best Practices Awards
include Austin Energy, National Grid, CPS Energy, Ameren Illinois, NB Power,
ComEd and Puget Sound Energy. Winning programs have included an electric
vehicle education campaign, an online solar marketplace, a renewable energy
microgrid and an energy efficiency program for lower-income consumers.

For the fourth annual awards, SECC will recognize electricity
providers in these six categories:

Consumer Education: This category will recognize a
successful education campaign that increases reach and awareness of consumers
on how they can benefit from energy efficiency, smart energy, renewable energy
or related programs and services.

Consumer Engagement: This category will recognize
high level of engagement and participation in a program and/or service, along
with significant benefits to the consumers for their participation.

Culture Transformation: This category will
recognize a shift toward customer centricity within an electricity provider,
including adapting to consumer needs during the COVID-19 pandemic and by
developing new organizational philosophies, strategies and metrics for customer
success.

Smart Energy Innovation: This category will
recognize technology innovation from an electricity provider related to grid
modernization efforts. The winning innovation will be unique in the industry
and provide a clear value proposition for residential energy customers.

SMB Engagement: This category highlights programs,
services and/or technologies that have successfully engaged small-and-medium
business customers and helped them achieve their organizations’ energy goals.

Underserved Markets: This category will highlight
a program, service or product from an electricity provider that has
successfully engaged and benefited a traditionally underserved consumer segment
(e.g., renters, low-income consumers, seniors).

The nominations window will close on Wednesday, October
28, and the winners will be evaluated in November by an independent advisory
panel of industry experts, including Michael Murray, president of Mission:data;
Chris Oberle, senior vice president at Escalent; and Lori Walker, vice
president, energy market director at Hiner & Partners.

“This year has presented numerous challenges for
residential energy consumers and for electricity providers,” said SECC’s
President & CEO Patty Durand. “For the 2021 awards, we’re looking for the
electricity providers that have excelled in assisting customers during this
difficult time while also working toward their smart energy goals.”

SECC will announce the winners in March 2021 and formally recognize them on stage at the 2021 Consumer Symposium, co-located with DISTRIBUTECH 2021 in Orlando, Florida. Visit this link to learn more about the awards program.
