New processing equipment to fuel Guinness 0.0 production

Guinness is adding six new processing vessels with a total capacity of almost 90 million pints to ne its new production facility for the production of Guinness 0.0.

The new units were made in Burgstadt in Germany before being shipped to Dublin Port. The non-alcoholic alternative is brewed using a cold filtration system that extracts alcohol from Guinness that has already been brewed.

The move will increase production by almost 300% after an investment of €25m in a new facility at the St James’s Gate brewery in Dublin to meet growing domestic and global demand for the non-alcoholic drink

All global production of Guinness 0.0 takes place at St James’s Gate with its main export markets including the UK, Europe, US, Canada, Middle East and South Korea.

Guinness said that demand continues to grow in Ireland since the product launched in 2021.

It also forecast that the non-alcoholic alternative will account for 10% of all Guinness  sales in Ireland in the future.

Managing director of parent company Diageo Ireland Barry O’Sullivan said that Guinness 0.0 is now the biggest selling non-alcoholic beer in four pack format in both Ireland and Britain.

“This expansion in production capacity at St James’s Gate is a testament to the quality of Guinness 0.0 and the growth of the non-alcoholic category, as consumers look for more choice on different occasions. We expect the growth of Guinness 0.0 to be another export success story for Ireland,” Mr O’Sullivan added.
