Networked Energy Services selected to deliver transformer balancing solution for Albania
The solution for OSHEE will use NES Smart Meters to improve revenue generation and reduce energy distribution losses.
Networked Energy Services Corporation (NES), a global smart grid solution provider with the industry’s leading Energy Applications Platform (EAPTM), is delighted to announce that OSHEE (Electricity Power Distribution System Operator) in Albania has selected NES, and its local partner ACI, for its transformer balancing and smart metering project. This new project follows the successful completion of an NES smart metering project for residential, business and light industry consumers in Tirana.
OSHEE’s new project includes the supply and installation of a smart metering system for its distribution substations. This includes smart meters, communications, and associated software and services. This project includes more than 3,000 distribution transformers, and is the first phase of a multi-phase project to provide a transformer balancing solution for all of OSHEE’s substations. NES will be providing its OSGP (open smart grid protocol) based smart metering solution, its smart meter operational support system, Grid Operations, and its analytics solutions. The smart grid solution will be deployed in cooperation with NES partner, ACI, an established energy services and infrastructure provider in Albania and supplier to OSHEE, who will perform installation services for the NES System.
The NES transformer balancing solution will help OSHEE reduce losses at their substation transformers by monitoring energy and voltage flows into the low-voltage grid, and allowing optimization of loading at the transformers. NES is partnering with ACI to reduce non-technical and technical losses, reduce distribution transformer maintenance and replacement costs, increase quality of service, integrate new sources of renewable energy and implement flexible load control.
“NES is honored to continue supporting OSHEE with its smart grid initiatives and objectives”, says David Thomson, NES President and CEO. “OSHEE’s decision validates the success of our previous project and our commitment to supporting them with an industry-leading reliable and secure solution. This also underlines the value of the NES System and the project management, technical support, and operations skills of our partner, ACI.”
