Neste charters lower-emission tankers from Terntank
An agreement has been signed by Neste to charter two new lower-emission product tankers from Terntank. The tankers have been designed with foldable suction sails and dual-fuel engines to enable the use of e-methanol as a fuel, which is produced with Power-to-X technology using captured carbon and renewable energy.
Both new tankers are equipped with Terntank’s Hybrid Solution electric power supply system, a battery pack and onshore power connection. The ice-strengthened ships, which are capable of carrying 15,000 tons of chemicals each, will be built by CMHI Jinling Shipyard in Yangzhou, China.

The ships are due for delivery during the second half of 2025 and early 2026. Upon entering service, the vessels will be used to transport an array of liquid cargoes, including renewable raw materials like waste and residue oils and fats, to Neste’s refineries.

With these vessels we continue to reduce the emissions and environmental impacts of transportation.”
