Mirror Margarita launches the world’s first clear Margarita

Mirror Margarita created by globally renowned mixologist Deano Moncrieffe, founder of the UK’s first ‘Agaveria’s’ Hacha, winner of ‘Specialist Bar of the Year 2022 and 2023’, launch the first clear margarita into Sainsbury’s stores nationwide and online this September 17th 2023.

The signature bar serve taken directly from Hacha’s cocktail menu now sold through national retailer Sainsbury’s means people can have award-winning mixology at home. Mirror Margarita is made using 100% Premium Agave Blanco Cazcabel Tequila, expertly mixed with blended citrus oils and malic acid, produced naturally by the agave plant itself, for a perfectly balanced margarita (sweet yet sour), that heroes the flavours of agave, with grapefruit notes on the finish.

Mirror Margarita joins Sainsbury’s RTD category in a 500ml format, containing 5 serves per bottle, ABV 15%, RRP £25.00. Bottles should be kept cool, refrigerated once opened and will keep for up to 12 months. The brand keeps sustainable practices at the heart of the making process, and all outer packaging is eco-friendly.

Deano Moncrieffe is well regarded as an agave expert and known for his forward-thinking approach to the spirits category with more than a decade of experience working with luxury Tequila and Mezcal brands. Deano co-founded Mirror Margarita with his partner Emma Murphy, the brand’s Creative Director and visionary, with 15 years’ experience in the drinks industry.

Co-founder and creative director Emma Murphy has been in the London drinks industry for 15 years having started her career in the glory years of Milk & Honey before holding management roles at Quo Vadis and Gordon Ramsay Group. Following this Emma became a Director on the founding team of DrinkUp.London – responsible for London Cocktail Week, London Wine Week, and numerous other London drinks festivals.

The brand has gained significant recognition by the drinks industry named by the CLASS Bar Awards as Cocktail of the Year in 2020 and awarded double Gold medals in the Spirits Business Pre-Mixed & RTD Masters in 2022 and Gold and Silver medals in the Global Luxury Masters 2022.

Deano Moncrieffe says the business is excited to have its bar quality signature serve made available to audiences nationwide through retailer Sainsbury’s.

“We have always believed there is a gap in the market for a premium RTD cocktail which is expert led, so people who are time poor but love good quality drinks can enjoy them without any fuss at home,” he notes. “What’s more we believe the new product will resonate with people who are already fans of Mexican spirits, but also the innovation behind the recipe with its crystal-clear appearance will intrigue new audiences. The future of cocktail making is here.’’

The listing in Sainsbury’s continues the brands’ long-standing ambitions to bring luxury agave-based spirits to a larger audience. The brand joins Sainsbury’s as part of its ‘Thrive Incubator Scheme’, in partnership with Foundervine and Mission Ventures created to support brands founded by black entrepreneurs.

The launch into retail adds to the brand’s distribution network, already with a strong ecommerce platform, sold directly from both Hacha Dalston and Brixton bars. The award-winning cocktail is also available wholesale in a 200ml (two serve) format, following a successful collaboration with Bermonds Locke, ideal for hotel partners looking to elevate their luxury in-room cocktail offering.
