Mettler-Toledo and BRCGS exclusive seminar to look at the future of food safety

Mettler-Toledo Product Inspection has announced an exclusive in-person One-Day Seminar at its Global Centre of Excellence in Royston, Hertfordshire on Wednesday 11th June, 2025 to celebrate World Food Safety Day, an initiative from the World Health Organisation.

This exceptional one-of-a-kind opportunity will examine the themes around how to Unlock the Future of Food Safety, in collaboration with BRCGS.

The One-Day Seminar will provide a look at the inner workings of the Mettler-Toledo Safeline manufacturing facility in Royston, Hertfordshire. Serving as the company’s Global Centre of Excellence for contamination detection technology, the facility expanded production by more than 80% when it opened in 2021.

It integrates research and development, manufacturing, logistics, final quality testing, and repair functions. The site provides cutting-edge inline product inspection solutions crafted to meet the ever-evolving demands of food safety and compliance.

The event, reserved for a guestlist of food manufacturers, co-packers, brand owners and high street retailers, will provide an exclusive behind-the-scenes access to the state-of-the-art production facilities.

Attendees can expect a full open-door experience to witness first-hand Mettler-Toledo metal detection and x-ray inspection systems, designed to protect brands through the automatic detection and rejection of non-conforming products, and make it easy to comply with food safety regulations.

Mercè Sánchez, BRCGS

Mercè Sánchez is the Programme Manager for Global Food Standards at BRCGS. An Agricultural Technical Engineer, with a specialty in Food Industries from the UPC (Catalunya Politecnic University) and Food Science and Technology from the UAB (Autonomous University of Barcelona), she has extensive experience in the food industry. She has worked as a GFSI auditor across a wide range of certification standards for most of the last 18 years.

Mike PipeHead of Global Sales and Product Management, Mettler-Toledo

During his 15+ years at Mettler-Toledo, Mike has worked in both commercial and technical roles helping food and pharma manufacturers and brand owners achieve compliance, maximise productivity and drive consumer safety.

In this international strategic role, Mike works closely with local and global customers to understand their business challenges and applications to identify the correct x-ray technology solutions. His experience includes helping manufacturers to reduce the risk of product recalls, increase productivity and lower total cost of ownership.
