LoRaWAN network rolls out in France

Swedish IoT operator Netmore has started rolling out a LoRaWAN network in France, targeting smart water metering and other large scale utility and IoT projects.

The start of the rollout in France is accompanied with the offer of LoRaWAN coverage on demand for utilities and other IoT initiatives.

Smart water metering in particular is a rapidly growing market in France, with increasing need for improved digitisation to improve the resource efficiency.

With LoRaWAN-based solutions from the Netmore ecosystem including submetering, leakage control and manhole monitoring, a municipality, utility or other company can increase measurability and gain enhanced control and improved insights into the water resource.

Similarly corresponding solutions are available for gas, district heating and electricity.

”The fact that we are now establishing our infrastructure in France is a logical next step in our European rollout plan,” says Netmore Group CEO Ove Anebygd.

“The French market offers great potential when it comes to future rollouts of smart meters, not least in the water segment.”

The rollout forms the next step in a major European expansion for Netmore of its LoRaWAN infrastructure, which is now available in Sweden, the UK, Ireland, the Netherlands, Spain and France, while roaming agreements provide coverage in Finland and Switzerland.

Netmore says its network rollout takes place in close collaboration with selected partners, such as platform providers, solution developers, unit developers and real estate companies.

Besides aiming to offer the deployment of nationwide IoT projects within each country, Netmore’s intention is to open doors for large-scale societally beneficial IoT spanning several countries in Europe.

Among recent projects Netmore is partnering with Yorkshire Water in northern England for smart metering including the meters and the advanced metering infrstructure for up to 360,000 homes.
