Milan utility CAP Group is collaborating with Italgas’ digital subsidiary Bludigit on digitalisation and other technological innovations for water and gas networks.
Under a memorandum of understanding the CAP Group, which manages the water service in the city of Milan, and Bludigit intend to develop common initiatives for the management of water and gas networks and to promote and offer these to water service operators within Italy as well as elsewhere.
The first objective is to pool skills and know-how to develop synergies between the gas and water sectors, in which the Italgas Group operates through its subsidiary Nepta, and to promote the innovative use of technologies for monitoring and network management.
Joint initiatives are proposed on the innovation and digitalisation fronts including AI to advance technological development and improve the quality of the water service with increasingly technologically advanced management systems.

The MOU also envisages a focus on the market, working to implement common initiatives for the provision of innovative services both in Italy and abroad.
Finally, the collaboration between the two companies is intended to encourage the development and adoption of vertical products and solutions in the areas of operational efficiency, cartographic management of assets and network monitoring.
At the launch of the MOU, Michele Tessera, CIO of the CAP Group, underlined how digital technologies are essential to improve the efficiency of network services, while Marco Barra Caracciolo, President and CEO of Bludigit, highlighted the importance of sharing know-how to accelerate technological innovation and digital transformation.
The CAP Group and Bludigit consider the collaboration to represent a significant step towards creating value for the entire sector, helping to ensure access to clean water, public health and the protection of ecosystems.
It is not the first joint initiative of the CAP Group and Italgas Previously the two companies created, together with MM and Acquedotto Pugliese, the Water Group of Italy’s Digital Sustainability Foundation, with the aim to promote investments in digital technologies to improve the efficiency and sustainability of the water service.
