Published: 24 July, 2024
Interroll, a global leader in material handling solutions, has announced it has doubled the use of self-generated energy and nearly tripled the percentage of both shares in renewable energy, and the consumption of renewable electrical power. New statistics from the company’s latest sustainability report reaffirm its commitment to Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) principles.
The 2023 Sustainability Report outlines Interroll’s progress in energy efficiency and optimisation, including:
• Interroll’s consumption of renewable electrical power soared from 17.0% in 2022 to 50.5% in 2023.
• Self-generated energy has more than doubled from 1.0% in 2022 to 2.6% in 2023.
• 24.6% of Interroll’s energy came from renewable sources in 2023, compared to 8.4% in 2022.
Patrick Wedewardt, Director of Corporate Sustainability & Compliance, said: “We have taken significant strides to improve our energy efficiency and reduce our consumption of energy derived from fossil fuels. Energy management and reducing emissions from our own operations is a central part of our sustainability strategy. As part of our ongoing commitment to reduce our carbon footprint, we are continuously looking to source the greenest suppliers and partners to improve our Scope 2 and 3 responsibilities.”
In addition to its environmental achievements, Interroll is also committed to fostering a diverse and inclusive workforce. With a total of 2,398 employees, including 2,234 permanent positions, the company prides itself on providing stable employment opportunities. Notably, Interroll has seen an increase in the percentage of women employed within the business from 2022, emphasising its commitment to gender balance within a male-orientated industry.
In 2023, Interroll says it continued its investment in employee development, with an increase in both trainees and permanent positions compared to the previous year. These efforts underscore Interroll’s dedication to creating an inclusive workplace where employees can thrive and contribute to the company’s success.
Wedewardt added: “Interroll is committed to developing the skills and competencies of its employees. We are people-centric and pride ourselves on delivering the best service, with the satisfaction of both our employees and customers a top priority.”
Interroll says its ESG strategy is decided and supported at group level and this global approach ensures that the business has strategies in place to meet all ESG considerations.
