Ingredion’s Fibtretex offers texture and viscosity to support clean label
Ingredion EMEA has launched multi-benefit, naturally sourced, clean label citrus fibre ingredients.
Minimally processed and cost-effective Fibertex CF 500 and Fibertex CF 100 offer texture and viscosity to provide preferred on-pack claims and nutritional benefits.
These products will be available in APAC in August, by the end of the year in the US and Canada, with LATAM to follow.

These new citrus fibres can easily be combined with our Novation functional native starches, increasing the scope of customer problems to solve.”
The minimally processed, upcycled citrus fibres represent Ingredion’s continued commitment to clean label product innovation and provide viscosifying power, gelling and improved emulsion and texture stability over shelf-life.
Fibertex CF 500 & Fibertext CF 100 are cost-effective, consumer-preferred clean label options. Derived from upcycled citrus peels, the ingredients also support popular on-pack claims, including “derived from natural sources,” non-GMO, “fruit-based,” “source of/high in dietary fibre” and others, all of which have been indicators of clean label and consumer willingness to pay more.
Drapatz added: “Having an expanding range of healthy, clean label products on shelf that deliver value for money, retailers can retain and grow in-store traffic. Clean label product ranges with enhanced transparency and sustainability create brand value and trust for both retailers and manufacturers. Consumers trust and spend more of their share of wallet at retailers that offer clean label food and beverages, and those consumers return for repeat purchases.”
While citrus fibres have traditionally had a limited range of applications, Ingredion stressed that Fibertex CF 500 & Fibertex CF 100 multi-benefit citrus fibres can fully or partially replace more expensive and volatile ingredients like egg, oil and tomato solids to mitigate cost and supply challenges without compromising texture, stability and eating experience in a range of applications, including savoury, dairy, alternative dairy, confectionery, bakery, meat and alternative meat.
“Vegan products usually contain a series of additives to mimic ingredients such as eggs, resulting in a long and complex ingredient list. The power of our Fibertex multi-benefit citrus fibres comes from their natural dietary fibre composition and inherent functionality to emulsify and bind water, which in turn provides thickness and texture stability – without the need to use egg,” said Julika Baseda, global R&D program manager, Ingredion.
According to Ingredion’s 2023 ATLAS proprietary consumer research, 99 percent of European manufacturers believe clean label products are essential to their business strategy. Plus, citrus fibres continue to grow in popularity as an ingredient option among consumers, with 85 percent globally claiming they accept and like them on their label. The same proprietary research indicates that what’s on the label is also growing in importance, with 79 per cent of global consumers stating they want to recognise a product’s ingredients and 50 per cent claiming they are checking food ingredients more than last year.
