Industry leaders, policymakers, and civil society organisations need to collaborate to transform food system

Flora Food Group’s chief executive officer David J. Haines highlighted the critical importance of food system transformation during this year’s World Economic Forum (WEF) Annual Meeting in Davos, emphasising collaboration between industry leaders, policymakers, and civil society organisations.

During the week’s events, Flora Food Group collaborated with the EAT Foundation for a high-level dinner that brought together thought leaders and changemakers to discuss sustainable food innovation. The “Next Generation of Delicious Food” dinner, co-hosted with EAT Foundation’s Dr Gunhild Anker Stordalen, explored evidence-based approaches to reshaping global food systems.

“The transition to sustainable food systems isn’t just a health and environmental imperative – it’s a business opportunity,” said Sally Smith, chief sustainability officer at Flora Food Group. “Consumers are increasingly demanding products that align with both their values and their taste expectations.”

Haines participated in WEF’s “Breaking Down Food” panel alongside Minister Chirag Paswan, Johan Westman, and Her Excellency Mariam Almheiri. The discussion revealed three key insights about the future of food systems: the fundamental shift in consumer preferences toward sustainable options, the crucial role of government policy in accelerating transition, and the private sector’s responsibility as a catalyst for change.

Herman Betten, chief corporate affairs & communications officer at Flora Food Group, emphasised the importance of partnership: “The collaborations we’re building at Davos demonstrate that partnership is key to accelerating food system transformation. By bringing together diverse stakeholders, we can create solutions that benefit both people and planet.”

Looking ahead, Flora Food Group remains committed to delivering the next generation of delicious, natural, nutritious food that is more affordable and more sustainable. Our brands offer compelling choice.
