IET exhibits at Expo 2020 Dubai

The Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) has teamed up with the UK Government to create a display of engineering ideas that have changed the world at the latest World Expo in Dubai.

Inspired by its 100 engineering ideas that changed the world exhibition at IET London: Savoy Place, this exciting collection of innovations from past and present will sit within the UK Pavilion, launching the IET’s presence in the United Arab Emirates, while raising awareness of engineering and technology and inspiring the next generation.

Expo 2020 Dubai will be a six-month celebration of creativity, innovation, humanity and world cultures and welcomes everyone from artists and academics, to popstars, pioneers, tech ninjas and tomorrow’s leaders. It provides an ideal platform for the UK to collaborate and partner with other participating nations and create solutions to the global challenges society faces today.

The UK is one of 190 nations taking part in Expo 2020 Dubai and will be participating with the theme ‘Innovating for a Shared Future’. The UK Pavilion is the centrepiece of the UK Government’s presence, accompanied by a six-month content programme of events at the UK Pavilion and beyond.

IET President, Danielle George, said: “Expo 2020 Dubai is a wonderful way of bringing so many nations and cultures together to do good for our world.

“Engineers have been improving our world and shaping our future for centuries, and it’s no secret that we live in a world that is greatly shaped by wonderful thinking minds. Expo 2020 is a celebration of innovation, ideas and cultures that will build a better tomorrow for us all and we’re thrilled to be a part of it.”

Expo 2020 Dubai will run from 1 October 2021 to 31 March 2022, and the IET’s exhibition is open to all UK Pavilion visitors.
