Genevos and Transfluid collaborate on hydrogen-electric propulsion system
Marine fuel cell integration company Genevos and transmission and electric motor producer Transfluid are to collaborate on the development of a scalable zero emissions propulsion system.
Through the partnership both companies aim to accelerate the decarbonization of the industry by developing a marine certified turnkey hydrogen-electric propulsion package. The system is set to feature Genevos’s Hydrogen Power Module (HPM) range and Transfluid’s batteries, electric motors, transmissions and integration services.

By utilizing Transfluid’s products and the HPM range, the systems will be capable of delivering 15kW to 500kW of power, enabling the duo to customize the propulsion package to suit the requirements of differing vessel types. The collaboration aims to provide both hydrogen-electric and hybrid options which are said to benefit from an extended range due to the Genevos marine fuel cells.
Genevos has set a key company objective to simplify the hydrogen energy transition in the marine industry by delivering customized, plug-and-play solutions to the sector.
“We are committed to supporting maritime decarbonization by providing scalable hydrogen-electric systems applicable to a diverse range of vessels from passenger ferries and service vessels to sailing and motor yachts,” commented Phil Sharp, CTO, Genevos. “Together with Transfluid’s large product range we will be able to offer customized solutions to optimize performance and efficiency. We very much look forward to working with Transfluid as part of the urgent need to reduce vessel emissions.”
“Hydrogen is one of the most promising zero emission fuels to avoid polluting the air we breathe every day,” said Ugo Pavesi, CEO, Transfluid. “The partnership with Genevos enables us to combine our expertise with certified, proven and advanced technologies to meet zero emissions maritime needs within the global market.”
